While I Convalesce

I was sitting on the deck chatting with our care giver and mentioned it was my spot to convalesce. He didn’t know the word, which I thought was odd, since he is nursing student. I wondered if the word was archaic and not used anymore. I have to admit the word conjures up images of folks sitting on a country porch somewhere in old wheelchairs with blankets over their laps and matronly nurses in white uniforms serving up doses of castor oil and mineral water. It is still in use, but I guess rehab centers are more commonly used words. But I have been convalescing for months now and move around the property mostly following the light. It seems all my photo efforts are from me sitting somewhere and observing the light and how it plays off the trees and other things. I did this from the front porch. Everything was backlit and I just saw it as an abstraction of colors and textures. Just something to amuse myself while I convalesce.
