Been walking lately with coffee destinations in mind. Since my favorite spot is 2 miles away, I have been checking out the closer ones, given there are multiple choices. The closest ones are small and always full with folks glued to their devices. And I don’t do take out. I want to sit and enjoy my café latte in a real mug. Maybe even have a pastry. I tried a new one yesterday that I have walked by often but never tried. Now I know why. While the coffee was good, it was overpriced, probably to help pay for its hip, chic space. Lovely environment, but terribly cold and sterile. I guess I prefer the more bohemian places with exposed brick walls and worn, overstuffed chairs. I also have to ask myself if the $7 coffee out experience is better than the $.75 coffee experience I have at home? I have a La Pavoni espresso machine that makes a great latte so why go out? I guess when it is with a friend, since we will converse. But to go alone and sit in silence surrounded by millennials glued to their phones is kind of boring. I guess I need to take a book and be glued to my own device…
