The rains have let up a bit and my morning walk today was just cool and grey. Unseasonably warm actually. My daffodils are popping through the ground already. I walked a couple miles to neighborhood known as Tangletown. Unlike the old country, i.e. Europe, American urban neighborhoods are often laid out on a grid. Often long and boring streets. Though older ones can be tree lined with large, majestic trees making the streets more pleasant. Tangletown is a neighborhood where they broke the grid and streets run every which way and converge on a central avenue, thus creating a tangle of streets. The main avenue has a pub, couple of shops and restaurants and one of my favorite coffee places. Café Zoka. It is almost always filled with patrons either chatting away or glued to their devices. It was a bit quiet this morning and I actually found a table to myself. I had a café latte and just sat, though I did take a moment to glance at my device just to see if anyone wanted my attention. Fuled up, I walked the scenic route home. And yes, the walks take me somewhere else and are very therapeutic. Time to reflect, and a nice way to avoid, if only for a short time, the noise of a chaotic world.
